Blog #15

Prior to this class I was skeptical of how computers and technology correlates with being a teacher. But of over the course of this class I learned that technology is one on the most important tools in contributing to a child's education. When I was in school technology hardly played and role but in a society that thrives on technology it is essential that children, even at an early age, are introduced and become familiar with the basic uses and programs.

I'd like to think that I will take everything that I learned in this class into my own classroom, none of it was irrelevant. From creating a grade sheet in Excel, or making a newsletter in Word, or creating a Powerpoint to provide a beneficial lesson, or having student create their own mind map in Inspiration. All of these tools can play a role in the classroom, with time permitting. And one draw back is students don't necessarily know how to use all of the programs and that can take time out of the lessons. But, I will do what I can to incorporate all of my knowledge about technology into my own classroom.


Honestly, unlike most classes I have enrolled in at CSUSM, this class in all aspects have contributed positively to my education. The style of teaching also works. The teacher familiarized us with a particular program or software and we would use it hands on in class. Then we would go home and complete an assignment that required us using the same program we used in class that week and incorporating a California Content Standard. The only improvement I could offer for this class is putting I-Movie in the beginning or middle so that the "big project" isn't left at the end along with Taskstream. But overall I enjoyed this class!
